It is used by EMTs to assist in raising the bodytemperature of patients who are in shock or hypothermic. It helps withelderly patients who may have difficulty maintaining body temperature.Veterinarians also find it useful to soothe and calm animals both before and after surgery. The advantages that Comfort Zone® has overtraditional electric blankets is that it is not susceptible to the “hotspots” that wired heating blankets can develop nor does it present theelectrical hazards that wired heating blankets do.

2) IsComfort Zone® UL approved?

Comfort Zone®is approved byUnderwriters Laboratories (UL) under theUnited States and Canadian (CUL) standardsfor indoor appliances.

3) How hot do the warming platesget and can a person be burned by them?

The units hould not be left where a child or incapacitated person can be in contact with the plates while the unit is on. In addition tothe thermostatically controlled heat, controls in both plates willdisable the unit if the thermostats should fail.

4) Inoticed some moisture had accumulated in the unit when it was firstused, is that a problem?

6) How long does it take to warm up an item up in Comfort Zone®?

That depends on the environmental conditions. If the unit has been indoors,it will take as little as 20 minutes initially to warm a blanket. Oncethe unit is warm, additional items can be warmed in even less time.Warming times can be reduced substantially by opening the unit after 5or 10 minutes and refolding the blanket and placing it back in the unit. However, often the units particularly those used by EMTs are leftoutside in a vehicle. If the unit is cold it may take much longer forthe initial warm-up. That is because the unit itself absorbs much of the initial heat.
